Santa Barbara Style

Have you ever scrolled through #santabarbarastyle? Wow! I want to live there!

It's sunny...like ALL the time. Every street is lined with palm trees. All Spanish tiled stair cases lead to heaven ...or vegan food. Beautiful tan people hold yoga poses all. day. long. on white sandy beaches with crystal clear water glistening in the back ground. Everyone has #furbabies and stroll through farmers markets (ok so this part may be true.) Hmmmmmm....Casey I think we might get our locals card revoked if we don't start wearing linen rompers!

I love this place and I am proud to call it home. Santa Barbarians born and raised, 805 strong and all that. Our lifestyle was just a liiiiiiittttlllleee different than the hashtag actually growing up here. Casey and I shared a bedroom most of our childhood. Both parents worked hard to buy our cute little 1920s cottage on the Westside. Two bedrooms, one bath, for a family of four.... whats the saying?! "Small houses make for close families." For Casey and I it is true (our parents...not so much) we had our moments in high school (SHOUT OUT - San Marcos Royals!)  but have grown to be best friends aaaaand business partners obviously.

Well, palm trees go up in flames, permits for two story buildings are hard to get, (so there's not so many of those beautiful stairs cases) and tempe bacon is gross! But locals do know what parts of town are warm and sunny when the beach is in a bank of fog. We also develop an internal alarm clock for when the sun breaks through the clouds and most tourist have given up so the beach is ours. Our beaches don't have fancy names we grew up going to "The Pit" (aka Hendry's Beach, aka Arroyo Burro) Now I raise my kids in the waves of Jelly Bowl and Tar Pits in Carpinteria (married to a Carp Loc)....where NO one does yoga on the beach!

No place on earth can live up to its hashtag but we are proud to call this sliver of paradise HOME!
